SOFAD (Société de formation à distance des commissions scolaires du Québec) is an organization that developed from the Ministère de l’Éducation mandate to provide distance education services between 1946 and 1995. Its creation, in 1996, was the result of the joint effort of the Ministère and the school boards.

SOFAD’s services are intended for francophone and anglophone school boards and the schools under their jurisdiction. SOFAD reports to a board of directors composed of representatives of school boards and educational institutions in Québec.
